Our back garden is more than a place to sit—it is a living experiment in regenerative agriculture. In the challenging climate of the Terai plains, where heavy monsoons meet intense heat, we’ve built a multi-layered permaculture system designed to work with nature rather than against it. Towering banana palms create a natural canopy of shade for delicate herbs and vegetables beneath, forming a self-supporting ecosystem where each layer plays a role. What leaves our café returns to the soil through composting, transforming organic waste into nutrient-rich earth that feeds the next cycle of growth. We avoid chemical pesticides entirely, instead relying on companion planting and traditional practices like neem oil to maintain balance and protect biodiversity.
